Gerbekse köyü

Is the first great anchorage, due west just 1.3 NM of Çiftlik.  It is stated to have been a Byzantine trading post and located 15 minutes by boat.  It stands at the head of a long finger shaped bay on an isthmus and has a number of Byzantine ruins including a small church halfway up the mountainside.  It is likely that the post was a slightly larger community and access was probably only by boat as the mountain sides are quite steep.

The waters here are particularly clear and offer good snorkelling with the chance to see some varied sea life such as cuttle fish, octopus and a large number of Wrasse, Gar fish, various  Gunards and fan mussels.   It is possible to overnight here however the creek often experiences fresh winds from the head of the bay which would be beam on.  So ensure your anchor is well dug in and you have a good line ashore.
