Mesudiye

Is a shore side hamlet approximately 9 km west of Datça.   To sail from Datça you will need to round Ince Burun around 5 NM south of Datça then head west along the coast for another 6 NM.  The bay appears quite small but is protected by the headland to the west.  However it opens out to offer a 'T' shaped jetty which is owned by the community and tucked in on the left side of the bay where a stone harbour wall protects the jetty area from any swell.  You can expect to be charged anything from 15 to 30 TL to stay on the jetty.  There is a sandy beach that stretches to the east of the bay.  The population of Mesudiye is around 700 of which most of the 100 families live in Mezgit located about 200 metres above Mesudiye, offering them fabulous views over the sea towards Greece's island of Tilos.

There is one particular restaurant to recommend here and that is "Ortam Restaurant and Pension".

An olive oil mill is located in the centre of the village called "Mezgit Mengen" by the locals.  The mill is completely renovated and all original machinery is still there to see.  They also have a video of the mill to view.  Much of the industry on the Datça Peninsula was and still is around olive growing and the olive oil industry.  You will find that the 9 main villages within the Peninsula confines are found situated around a mile from the sea and this was born from centuries of Piracy along the Aegean and Mediterranean coastlines.
